FAKOCO

Fakoco, our operation in Douala Port, the economic capital of Cameroon, started up in the beginning of 2005. Fakoco's main objective is to assure the best quality control throughout the process from bean drying to exporting and actual delivery of the cocoa beans. Fakoco wants to be a reliable exporter providing the best from Cameroon to its customers. As a general overview, the country exports around 140,000 MT of cocoa beans per year, while another 30,000 MT are for local consumption. Cameroon cocoa beans are well known for giving a reddish cocoa powder, well appreciated by many chocolate makers around the world.

Ecom Commodities Pty. Ltd.

Ecom Commodities Pty. Ltd. is part of an integrated farmer services and originating business encompassing cotton lint. The group works closely with farmer clients providing multiyear cotton and currency risk management solutions.

Ecom combines its international experience with local knowledge and Australian innovation to provide our clients, Australian growers, with flexible and tailored contracts designed to manage risk best suited to each enterprise. The Ecom Australian trading team is multi-lingual and well connected with our international counterparts to obtain the best returns for growers.

In the field, Ecom's Agents are located in the key producing regions and are well supported by our Sydney based traders.

Ecom Commodities, in conjunction with our offies located in Singapore and Shanghai, services Australia and the Far East. The Singapore and Shanghai offices have been simultaneously established to further strengthen the group’s presence in Asian and Pacific Rim regions.

Because Australian cotton is largely dependent on the availability of water, its production level is cyclical in nature. The farms are generally large and professionally managed, and the use of a combination of seed types, weather, and farming practices normally results in both high yields and high grade production. The traditional cotton growing areas are northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.  

Cafinter S.A.

Ecom’s Costa Rican office, Cafinter S.A., opened in 1989 in Cartago. It initially began as an export-only operation, working alongside a local milling company. Four years later Ecom acquired this company, merging it with Cafinter S.A. to create an integrated milling-export operation.

Cafinter S.A. handles fine coffees from the highland areas of Tarrazu, Tres Rios, Central Valley, West Valley, and Orosi. Coffee purchased from each of these regions is then sent to one of the office’s three mills, where it is processed and prepared for export.

Cafinter’s mills, La Giorgia (West Valley), Santa Maria (Orosi), and Tres Volcanes (Central Valley), are conveniently located in Costa Rica’s principal producing areas. With its facilities located in close proximity to the farms from which it sources, Cafinter can efficiently manage all of its processing activities.

Cafinter S.A. prides itself not only on the fine qualities of its coffees, which consistently receive high ratings in regional cuppings, but also on its fully integrated process that allows for such high qualities to be obtained.

Ecom Trading (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.

Ecom Trading started its operations in Shangai in August 2004. Its main purpose is to buy cocoa beans from origin countries such as Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Togo and Indonesia and sell them into China. Since it opened, it has sold 8,500 MT of cocoa beans and bought near 3,000 MT of cocoa butter from Chinese grinders. The commitment of the people working at Ecom Trading is to give an excellent service to its clients and to promote cocoa beans and cocoa products in China, since it is a potentially increasing market for the chocolate industry. The office is also involved in some activities held by the China Confectionery Food Association.

Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Pte Ltd. Local Laison Office

Ecom Bangladesh is the local Laison office of M/S Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Pte Ltd.

As well as managing our agents in Bangladesh, the local office is able to facilitate direct sales of cotton from all the origins we work with.

We can also provide Buyers with market and crop information and provide support for all aspects of cotton sales from contracts, letters of credit, shipment information and quality.

Guatemala Export Café

Founded in 1980, Export Café is the principal supplier of Guatemalan coffees to the world market. As the owners and operators of five dry mills, Guatemala’s two largest wet mills, and warehousing facilities, Export Café maintains a strong and solid presence throughout the entire country.

Currently, the company handles coffees from the Atitlán, Cobán, Fraijanes, Huehuetenango, Jalapa, and San Marcos regions. It processes and exports Prime Washed, Extra Prime Washed, and Hard Bean arabica coffees. In addition, it also is the largest exporter of Strictly Hard Bean coffee - the only Guatemalan grade acceptable for the specialty market. Export Café is committed to investing in the infrastructure of the industry, as well as in the coffee community itself so that growers are provided the best service, buyers the highest quality, and Guatemalans a safe and healthy environment.

Ecom Cocoa - Indonesia

The first buying office was opened in 2002 in Makassar - the cocoa capital of South Sulawesi. This region accounts for over 300,000MT of annual cocoa production and is the largest source of Asian cocoa beans.

In 2003, a second office opened in the Central Sulawesi city of Palu, whose surrounding regions account for almost 100,000MT of cocoa production annually. A third office specializing in Sumatran cocoa beans will soon open in Lampung.

EISA - Empresa Interagrícola S.A.

Ecom has been present in Brazil’s cotton industry since the 1930’s and is the primary cotton merchandiser in Brazil. Operations in Brazil are rather complex due to federal and state tax codes that can inhibit purchase and sale transactions and interstate commerce. Brazil is both a large producer and consumer of cotton.

Production has migrated from small scale farming in the industrialized states to the agricultural hinterlands of Mato Grosso and Bahia. Farms are very large, professionally run units and Brazil is rapidly becoming a low cost producer with growing export activity. EISA - Empresa Interagrícola S.A. is both an originator for domestic mills and an exporter, working as an integrated merchant and processor with farmers nationwide.

Ginning and Warehousing Overview

EISA - Empresa Interagrícola S.A. currently operates ginning facilitiy in Paracatu, and also works closely with a variety of producing groups for whom Ecom has built and managed ginning facilities. EISA - Empresa Interagrícola provides contract and toll ginning services from module handling to bale warehousing and shipment. In addition to ginning, the office runs two gin yard/warehouse facilities, one in each of the main producing regions of Mato Grosso and Bahia (each has a capacity of 300,000 bales). Through these facilities, EISA - Empresa Interagrícola S.A. provides full warehousing services and integrated logistics. Further dedicated warehouse resources are maintained in Santos and other major ports to ensure timely and effective shipping - a major item given the numerous bottlenecks that inhibit crop movement.

Ecom Gill Coffee Trading Pvt. Ltd.

Ecom opened its India office, Ecom Gill Coffee Trading Private Ltd., in 2000. With its head trading office in Bangalore, the main coffee trading center of India, it is strategically located near vital members of the Indian coffee industry such as the Coffee Auction Center, India Coffee Board, and numerous shipping companies.

Indian coffee, unique in its characteristics, is grown under shade with filtered sunlight to ensure its slow and even maturation. Ecom Gill operates a dry milling facility near Kushalnagar, as well as many toll facilities in the Chikmagalur, Mysore, Coorg, and the Giri Hill areas. At these facilities, unwashed and washed Arabica and Robusta coffee is processed, milled, and bagged for export.

Ecom Trading (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.

Ecom has been active in cotton merchandising in China since 1952, handling imports and exports with government agencies. In more recent years, we have been working with private and joint venture mills. With the growth of Chinese textile activities, Ecom first converted its sales office in Hong Kong into a representative office in Beijing and then, as the cotton distribution sector in China opened, into an international trade company based in Shanghai.

China is the largest producer and consumer of cotton, and therefore variations have material impact in global supply and demand. Ecom Shanghai is an essential part of the group’s information network, as well as our relationship management with Chinese mills and government agencies. The company works closely with textile mills advising them on global cotton sourcing and monitoring deliveries, coordinating export and import shipments, overseas consignment stocks, and conducting regular crop and consumption surveys. In preparation of entering the domestic merchandising markets, steps have recently been taken to build relationships with gins and producing groups.

Zamacom S.A.

Zamacom Coffee, an Ecom Coffee operation based in western Africa, is a vertically integrated company employing all levels of expertise in sourcing and exporting Grade 1-4 Robusta coffees. Having offices in Ivory Coast’s two port cities, Abidjan and San Pedro, and being an active member of the Ivorian coffee export association, affords Zamacom the ability to monitor up-to-date market trends, product quality and traceability, and other issues of concern to its customers.

Since its establishment in 2000, Zamacom has utilized the most advanced technology available for grading and cleaning its coffee. Its emphasis on quality, throughout the entire milling and exporting processes, ensures that Zamacom coffee is of a superior standard.

Agroindustrias Unidas de Cacao, S.A. de C.V. (AMCO)

Agroindustrias Unidas de Cacao, S.A. de C.V. (AMCO), Ecom’s Mexican operation, opened its cocoa division in 1994. AMCO cocoa products are produced at our wholly-owned AMCO cocoa processing plant in Veracruz, Mexico. The plant has a grinding capacity of 40,000MT/year and the capability to provide Organic Fair Trade and other certified products. AMCO cocoa powder is produced to mainly serve the local market in Mexico, while the majority of AMCO's excellent cocoa butters and liquors are exported to the United States.

Dhanya Agroindustrial Private Ltd., has its head trading office in Bangalore, the main cotton trading center of India.

Ecom Dutch Cocoa

Ecom Dutch Cocoa products are manufactured in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in a facility with a 70,000 MT/year grinding capacity. The versatility of this factory allows us to offer a very wide spectrum of natural and alkalized powders, whether medium-or high-fat and often tailor made to our client's needs. We also offer cocoa liquor in liquid form, block or kibbled as well as deodorised cocoa butter. Almost half of the output comprises of sustainable and certified products such as UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, Organic, Fair Trade and other standards. We are happy to accept both smaller orders (with a minimum of 10 MT) upto large year contracts.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corporation Representative Office

The primary function of Ecom’s representative office in Italy is client relationship management in the Italian market. This includes sales, delivery and contract administration. Additionally, the office supports origination of cotton from Greece, Turkey and other Mediterranean countries.

Monpi Coffee Exports Ltd.

In 2002, Ecom added another coffee operation to its group - Monpi Coffee Exports Ltd.

Located in Goroka, Monpi Coffee Exports Ltd. is a network composed of purchasing, milling, and warehousing facilities. All coffee offered from PNG is high grown, fully washed, and mostly sun dried. The vast majority of the crop is PNG Y1, however an assortment of high quality plantation coffee is also available. This coffee is sourced from single plantations that produce excellent qualities or from cooperatives and regions that combine their harvests to sell good quality coffee under a common name.

Yara Commodities Ltd

Ecom Nigerian cocoa operations started in December 2005. Yara Commodities Ltd, based in Lagos, the economic capital of Nigeria and the most populated city in Africa, will soon export in their own name. Nigeria exports about 200'000MT of cocoa beans per year. Most of the production comes from the South Western belt, in the so called Yoruba land. Nigerian sundried cocoa beans are known to compete with the Ivorian quality. Based on our Ivorian experience, our long-term objective is to be present all along the supply chain and to assist the process of treating the cocoa beans in order to provide the best quality.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd Zamacom S.A.

Zamacom S.A.'s cotton division shares offices with the company’s cocoa and coffee origination and processing companies in Abidjan. The office assists in the purchasing of West African cotton, supervises take up and logistics, oversees shipments through the port of Abidjan and coordinates deliveries from suppliers throughout the region.

Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd.

In 2000, Ecom established its Singapore office, Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd., to serve as the Group’s trading and logistics center in Southeast Asia. Two years later, the office created its coffee department to compliment Ecom’s growing presence in Asia and Oceania. Serving a traditionally soluble (robusta) market, its focus lies within a sector of the industry characterized by growth and new possibilities that include the roast and ground (arabica) division.

The coffee team functions as a satellite office of Ecom’s Switzerland operation. The office handles all Intra-Asia shipments to customers in the region and manages all logistical issues of Chinese, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, and Malaysian arabica, robusta, and excelsa coffees to any destination. In addition, it is involved in vendor management inventory with ‘just in time’ deliveries.

Today, Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd. extends the Group’s experience and knowledge in quality and service with sales to almost all Asian coffee origins, with Japan and Korea the only exceptions.

Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Pte. Ltd.

In 2001, Ecom opened a cocoa division in its Singapore office, Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd. This operation manages the sourcing of cocoa beans from every producing country in Asia. Over 530,000MT of cocoa beans are grown in this region every year. The majority of Ecom Singapore’s cocoa sourcing operations are handled via its wholly-owned Indonesian subsidiary TMCI.

The Singapore office is also involved with the sourcing and marketing of Far East cocoa butter, liquor, cake and powder. The Asian market has approximately 420,000MT of installed grinding capacity which equates to over 330,000MT of cocoa products. Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd. works closely with many of the regional cocoa factories providing them with the raw materials for production and assisting with the marketing of their cocoa products.

Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd. is also a founding member of the recently formed Cocoa Association of Asia (CAA). The CAA seeks to promote interaction among all those involved in the Asian cocoa trade -- farmers, processors, manufacturers, and traders – through the exchange of ideas, information, and knowledge.

In 1996, Ecom established its first operation in Africa - Kawacom (U) Ltd. Focusing initially on the export of natural Ugandan robusta coffee, the office later expanded its services by incorporating new and innovative processing and export procedures into its daily obligations. Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. is located in Pully, Switzerland. Its cocoa division, Pully Cocoa, started in the mid-1990s as a sourcing operation for Ecom Cocoa - Atlantic (its sister office in New York), providing them with West African beans and Far East butter. In 1998, we obtained our first export license in the Ivory Coast and began exporting cocoa beans under the name Zamacom, and in 2000, we increased our responsibility to become the Holding Corporate Office for the Ecom Group worldwide. Ecom Coffee - Atlantic (USA) Inc., Ecom Coffee's New York office is located in the financial district of Manhattan, and opened in 1988. Atlantic (USA) services the commercial roaster communities in North America and provides our clients with raw coffee beans from worldwide origins as well as decaffeinated products from Ecom's decaffeination plant in Cordoba, Mexico and freeze-dried soluble products from Ecom's plant in the port of Chiapas, Mexico. We store commercial grade products throughout North America.

Atlantic (USA), Inc.

Ecom Cocoa - Atlantic (USA), Ecom Cocoa’s New York office, is located in the financial district of Manhattan. Atlantic’s cocoa division opened in 1990 and has been rapidly expanding ever since.

We service the North and South American markets, supplying our customers with cocoa beans from Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as cocoa powder, cocoa butter, and cocoa liquor. Our cocoa products are manufactured in Ecom’s plant in Mexico and in the JB Cocoa plant in Malaysia, under the AMCO and Ecom brand names respectively. We store our products in warehouses throughout the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.

Algodonera Guarani S.A.

Algodonera Guarani S.A. (AGUSA) is one of the leading exporters in Paraguay, and has ginning operations in all producing regions. Cotton is a major agricultural and export crop, and AGUSA is the primary processing and merchandising company in this sector. Cotton is generally produced by small holders and passes through several intermediaries before reaching the gin. AGUSA provides a full range of producer services – planting seed distribution, agricultural advisors and crop surveyors, production finance, picking bags and harvest support.

With small holder production, AGUSA does not toll gin for producers, but acquires seed cotton and assumes the risk management of yield turnouts and grades. As part of the ginning process, AGUSA removes foreign matter and contaminants that often arise with small holder production and cause problems for mill clients. Success in these areas makes AGUSA production broadly accepted and considered superior to that of other operators. AGUSA merchandises the products that are produced, with cotton distributed primarily to export markets, including Mercosul, the Far East and India.

Atlantic (USA) Ho Chi Minh

Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Ltd. (ACOM), a subsidiary of Ecom, was established in 2002. Focused on being the foremost coffee exporter in Vietnam, ACOM relies on both its’ trading office and milling facility to provide the resources it needs to meet the high expectations of its customers.

ACOM’s processing plant in Bao Loc, located in the Lam Dong province, is one of the most modern facilities in all of Southeast Asia. Its design, which is based on the highest standards for storage and processing, includes a fully equipped coffee laboratory and state-of-the-art machinery.

From processing to trading and export, ACOM offers all of their global customers a quality, individually tailored Vietnamese robusta coffee.

Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Pte. Ltd.

Ecom Cotton established a new office in Singapore as part of its response to growing activities in South East Asia and the Far East. Ecom Agroindustrial Asia Ltd. works closely with Ecom Trading Shanghai on shipments into China, particularly with respect to consignment stocks and prompt delivery operations.

Forward stock programs similar to Ecom Agroindustrial Asia's are being established for other large textile manufacturing regions in order to facilitate mill supply management. The office also assists origin logistics and sales administration on shipments into the region, and is responsible for all aspects of client relationship management and the coordination of regional group contracting.

Compañía Colombiana Agroindustrial S.A. (CCA)

In 1991, Ecom established its first Colombian office, C.I. Compañía Cafetera Agricola de Santander S.A. (C.I. CIA CCA. S.A.). The Group experienced such great success, that in 2000, it added a second company, C.I. Compañía Cafetera de Manzanares S.A. (C.I. CCM S.A.). In addition to these two offices, CCA and CCM also managed mills in each of Colombia’s seven coffee growing regions: Popayan, Bucaramanga, Santa Rosa de Cabal, Honda, Buga, Aremenia, and La Virginia.

CCA and CCM handle and export both commercial and gourmet coffee, subjecting each lot to a final cupping evaluation before approving it for export. They offer basic excelso and supremo coffee, as well as specialty brands. These coffees cater to any roaster’s needs - they can be marketed as 100% Colombian or used to create a blend.

In 2006 CCM has been incorporated into CCA.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd is a merchandising office and provides additional coverage of group relationship management with European and Russian clients and origination development in Africa, Central Asia and India.

The office is primarily active in the merchandising of West African cotton, and has ancillary operations in Greek and CIS cottons. Ecom Agroindustrial also acts as a bridge between time zones, improving communications between its Far East clients and origins in the Americas, as well as facilitating contract administration and execution.

Ecom coffee group El Salvador

Ecom started its operations in El Salvador as an agency on June 2004, the main activities were the purchase of  FOB coffee and provide support to programs such as the Rain Forest Alliance, Starbucks, C.A.F.E. Practices program and Fair Trade certifications as well as promoting their finest coffees to the world.

As well, Ecom is actively participating in the National Program run in conjunction with the Salvadorian Government and PROCAFE to improve productivity by providing technical services to the coffee producers.

With the establishment of Ecom in El Salvador, the future step was to create a marketing and exporting company.  This step was taken in 2007 when Cafetalera del Pacifico S.A. de C.V. was created, The company was borned as an strategic alliance between Ecom and 4 local partners that are families with history and tradition in the coffee industry.

Ecom LLC Representative Office

Ecom operates in all major cotton producing countries of Central Asia. Representative offices have been established in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and its own subsidiary in Tajikistan. The aim of the originating offices are to maintain close relationship with the main exporters, where ever possible develop backward integration to the farmers, and ensure optimum quality and logistics control to final destination.

In 2009 Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd opened its subsidiary in Tajikistan, Ecom LLC, who buys cotton at the farm gate, from farmers, gins and merchants. Our own warehousing operations ensure full control over the supply chain and cotton quality parameters before shipping. Ecom is a key partner in the "Better Cotton" project initiated in the Yavan valley. Within the BC project framework Ecom assists farmers in order to increase their yields, fiber quality specs and income. Ecom has teamed up with TAFF (Tajik Agricultural Finance Facility) to promote farmers' access to transparent financing and marketing.

Sogimex S.A.

Founded in February 1985 in San Pedro Sula, Sogimex S.A. is as a traditional, well-established green coffee exporter with strong local representation and a distinctive market presence. With control of more than 10% of the Honduran coffee exporting market, Sogimex has emerged as a leader in the industry. It is committed not only to maintaining total flexibility on world market requests, but also to promoting new brands for new markets.

The office owns and operates three buying agencies and four mills in the Cortes, Comayagua, La Paz, and El Paraíso regions. Through its comprehensive coverage of the entire western half of the country, Sogimex is equipped to offer its customers all varieties and qualities of Honduran arabica coffee.

Sogimex is dedicated not only to the coffee industry, but to the coffee community as well. Through its sustainable efforts, the office is improving the environmental and social conditions in which local producers live.

Ecom USA, Inc.

For many years, the United States has been the largest exporter of cotton. With the recent decline in textile manufacturing in the USA, exports have assumed an increased role. Cotton merchandising is closely interlinked with government program operations, which given recent WTO rulings, are likely to change.

Ecom cotton, for some 120 years, has been active in the U.S. cotton markets. From our initial emphasis on Texas cottons, Ecom USA has expanded into Memphis Territory and more recently into Western growths and Pima. As a result, our office handles a full range of U.S. cotton. To remain in close contact with producers and ginners, Ecom USA maintains branch offices in Lubbock and Memphis. Our Dallas office functions as the coordinator of all buying and selling operations and contract execution. Additionally, it maintains a staff directly in contact with the floor of the New York Board of Trade for management of market risk exposure, and hedging of group, U.S. and global operations. Our group infrastructure permits the broadest range of client inventory and supply management, including just-in-time and lay down basis delivery.

Warehousing Overview

Logistics are a critical part of U.S. cotton origination. With cotton grown over large areas and on farms of modest size using local warehouses, it can be difficult to create efficient and timely shipments. As such, warehouses often have extended backlogs of shipments and the number of warehouses from which shipments are needed can be extensive. To facilitate client service, Ecom USA maintains a network of warehouses in country, consolidation and export points. These warehouses are federally approved, bonded cotton warehouses that are acceptable to the USDA for storage of government loan cotton. In the case of Memphis and Houston facilities, our warehouse network is approved by the New York Board of Trade for the tender and storage of exchange certified stocks. With dedicated warehouses, Ecom USA is able to provide superior client service.

Cooperative Partner

Ecom is the exclusive marketing agent for the U.S. Cotton Growers Association (USCGA), a USDA approved cooperative marketing association. Ecom USA provides a broad range of risk management and administrative services to the USCGA, supporting an annual turnover in excess of 500,000 bales produced by over 700 members. The USCGA allows Ecom USA to directly work with farmers and ginners, which in turn permits pre-crop planning and improvements in supply chain efficiency that ultimately benefits both the producers and the mills.

PT Indo CafCo (Robustas)

Founded in 2000, PT. Tanah Mas Celebes Indah (TMCI) is Ecom cocoa operation in Indonesia. Located in Makassar, South Sulawesi, TMCI has grown to be one of the biggest cocoa beans exporters in Indonesia. It has now 5 branches and 2 buying stations and would further expand to get our operation closer to cocoa farmers and plantations so that we can obtain good quality beans with competitive price.

We buy ready to export beans from suppliers as well as bush beans from farmers and traders. Most of the beans are non-fermented ones, though we have also small quantity of fermented beans from the exotic island of Bali.

Started this year, we have commenced sustainability program in one of our buying station in Polewali Mandar (Polman). The sustainability team advocates farmers to apply good agricultural practice. They train and mobilize farmer leaders to deliver trainings in the sustainable agricultural standards. Currently, supported by Rainforest Alliance, we are running Cocoa Certification Project for the benefit of farmers, consumers, ourselves and for the world.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corporation Representative Office

Following several years of reduced activity in Central Asia, Ecom has recently opened an office in Tashkent with the intent of developing integrated origination and logistics for deliveries in Russia, Europe and China. The office also coordinates operations in other regions of Central Asia.

Uzbekistan has traditionally been a major producer and exporter of cotton. With the stabilization of demand and manufacturing structures in Russia, it is expected that inter-regional trade will continue to grow.

Ecom Japan Ltd.

In 2003, Ecom founded Ecom Japan Ltd. The Tokyo-based office became operational in 2004, and quickly established itself in the Japanese and Asian coffee trading markets. As a result of its professionalism in providing local roasters with to-the-minute market information and a solid supply chain management, Ecom Japan Ltd. has earned the reputation as a premier supplier of quality green coffee.

As the Japanese coffee industry expands, the specialty market is becoming more and more mainstream. Ecom Japan uses its own inventory to meet the needs of these high quality roasters, offering organic, sustainable, and other specialty products to satisfy their clients’ needs.

The office also maintains trusting and solid partnerships with producers in a variety of origins. By sourcing beans from these reputable and familiar groups, Ecom Japan is able to assure traceability with its coffee.

Sangana Commodities (K) Ltd.

Since its establishment in late 2004, Sangana Commodities (K) Ltd has grown into a leading buyer at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange. Kenya is widely known for producing one of the finest coffees in the world including a large percentage of specialty and gourmet qualities. Kenya coffee is characterized by citrus, blackcurrant and chocolate notes, with the very best qualities usually produced by cooperative farmers. Our buyers sample an average of 30,000 cups per year in an effort to identify the best lots. Kenya coffees are traded as micro-lots or blends, and packaging can be adapted to the buyer’s needs.

 In order to further our vision of an integrated supply chain, in 2007 we established our own independent technical services company dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers: Sustainable Management Services Ltd (SMS). Having its offices in the very heart of an active producing region in the north of Nairobi, SMS’ mission is to provide services to farmers while ensuring the promotion and the fair marketing of their coffee. Licensed by the Coffee Board of Kenya as a coffee management and marketing agent, SMS provides Ecom clients with a direct interface to farmers. SMS caters to the needs of growers by training them on Good Agricultural Practices, providing inputs and helping them to comply with certification standards. We put a special emphasis on capacity building through our own innovative and successful “bottom up” strategy linked to the “plan-do-check-act” cycle. We are currently offering technical support to more than 65 000 producers and assisting over 135 000 farmers to sell their coffee in the auction.

Agroindustrias Unidas de Mexico S.A. de C.V. (AMSA)

Agroindustrias Unidas de Mexico S.A. de C.V. (AMSA), Ecom’s overall commodity operating company, has been involved in the coffee industry since 1979. In addition to its head trading office in Mexico City, AMSA also operates divisional offices, warehouses, and wet and dry mills throughout Mexico and in each of the principle coffee growing regions – Chiapas, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Puebla and Nayarit. Through this complex network of over 15 offices and processing facilities, AMSA maintains solid control over the quality of its coffee.

AMSA offers an array of coffees and services, including decaffeination and blending, to its customers. Both Arabica and Robusta, as well as organic and specialty coffees, are offered for export and domestic consumption. With a wide variety of regional coffees available, AMSA is able to cater to its clients’ needs by creating new brands and specialty marks that they may request.

Exportadora Atlantic S.A.

Exportadora Atlantic S.A. was founded in 1997. Its head office, which is based in Managua, is supported by an extended network that includes two regional offices, forty buying stations, and nine dry mills. Together they function as a collective unit, possessing the level of national representation needed to advance the Nicaraguan green coffee industry.

Exportadora Atlantic dominates more than one-third of the market share due in part to its active stand with farmers and roasters. As a company committed to promoting market transparency and quality within the industry, Exportadora Atlantic works directly with local producers to educate them about quality issues. During training sessions and open forums, Exportadora employees train farmers in coffee preparation, milling, defect counts, and cupping.

With facilities located throughout the country, the company has access to organic, estate, and traditional Nicaraguan coffee. Exportadora Atlantic tailors these coffees, creating unique varieties from a standard product.

Cafetalera Amazonica SAC

Ecom entered the exporting sector of Peru’s coffee industry in 2000. It immediately established Cafetalera Amazonica SAC, a company that quickly secured itself as a solid representative, and promoter, of Peruvian coffee.

With buying agencies located throughout the country, Cafetalera’s purchasing power extends to every sector of the market. It manages buying centers in Peru’s northeastern, northwestern, southern, and central coffee producing regions. This level of coverage provides the office with ample opportunity in selecting coffees from a broad range of qualities.

Cafetalera processes all of its coffee in its mill located in Lima. At this facility, Cafetalera is capable of producing and customizing all types of coffee to fit any specification.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd.

Ecom Agroindustrial Corp., the administrative headquarters for the Ecom group, was founded in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1967. The office supplies green coffee to the extended European coffee market, and its extended offices in London and Singapore allow the group to better serve clients in niche markets.

In Switzerland, the coffee division represents all of Ecom’s operations in Central and South America and it is responsible for developing new origin operations in Africa and Asia. As a result, Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. is highly experienced not only in a multitude of green coffees, but in the industry’s supply chain as well.

Representative Office

Ecom Agroindustrial Corporation manages a small satellite operation in London, England. Functioning primarily as a sales office, London offers its clients in Northern and Central Europe the same assortment of Arabica and Robusta coffees that are traded by its affiliate in Switzerland.

These two operations work together in close collaboration, enabling the London office to provide a personalized, comprehensive service with the added benefits privy to a large corporation.

Mawenzi Coffee Exporters Ltd

Based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Mawenzi Coffee Exporters has been exporting Tanzania Arabica and Robusta coffee since 2006. With its own export warehouse and grading/blending equipment located near the port of Dar es Salaam, the company sources coffee via the auction, and prepares it to the standard required by its international clients. A support office in Moshi, ensures our participation in the auction, and provides access to information on the crop as well as access to estate producers and cooperatives in Northern Tanzania.

Mawenzi Coffee Exporters established specific brands with a history and traceability line for its customers. Tanzania coffee character belongs to the Central/East African family of washed Arabica coffees, with bright acidity and special flavors differentiating from area to area. Well known coffees are from the North where coffee farms are on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro with a long history of coffee production established by missionaries in the 19th century. In the previous years other areas as Kigoma in the West (know for the chimpanzees) and the Southern Highlands (known for its beautiful landscape, but also remoteness) developed fully washed coffees leading to new areas of marketing. Kagera region with its capital Bukoba is bordering on the West side of Lake Victoria to Uganda and is the only region in Tanzania producing Robusta. The Bukoba Robusta has a long history leading back to the 16/17th century when coffee was a royalty to the kings in Central Africa.

The established procurement system through the coffee auction did not allow close relationships with farmer groups, therefore  Ecom founded Tutunze Kahawa Limited for procurement of coffee cherries and parchment directly from the farmer’s home place with additional agricultural services to increase yield, quality and farmer’s income.

Paris DST company - brief history: 

In 1995, "Paris Coffee Co Ltd UK" was founded with sole owner Mr. Paris Diamandouros and business activity was the export of coffee from the transit area of Thessaloniki to nearby countries such as Montenegro, FYROM, Albania and Serbian, areas which are closer to Thessaloniki than from Koper port in Slovenia. Another company named "DST Trading" located in Cyprus was founded with partner Mr. Paris Diamantouros and Mr. Dimos Tsolakis & his sons Stavros & Dimitris. This company's activity was the import and export of all kind of nuts and other commodities. 

In the year 2000, those two companies consolidated and formed "PARIS DST Trading Company" in Cyprus. Main business of the company was coffee but nuts also remained in practice. This company gradually built a very good name both with its suppliers and customers - coffee bags with "PARIS DST" marks were considered of premium quality, as indeed they were. 

Until 2007, the last year of business activity, "PARIS DST" grew and became to be the most important coffee merchant in Thessaloniki, competing locally but also internationally with the other traders in Koper. The more important factor of this growth was, of course, the impeccable reputation of the company in these markets.

Paris DST, a division of ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd.: 

On the first day of 2008, ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd. invested in taking over Paris DST operations in Greece. The customer portofolio remained unchanged and now with a bigger structure, the company is due to growth even more in the Balkan markets. 

With a warehouse capacity of 25'000 bags on permanent basis by taking place in strategic position as Thessaloniki is, Paris DST is able to serve not only all countries around Greece such as Fyrom, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania and Bulgaria but also to cover urgent needs of other countries with sales to Armenia, Italy and Georgia as well. With regular vessel lines available from Thessaloniki to Black Sea every week, our warehouse could become soon substantive transit station with qualities of coffees are being sold regularly in Black Sea such as Indonesian Robustas. 

We are selling in the domestic market to local retailers and roasters custom cleared coffee. Services during the execution of the contracts such as loading, reweighing, custom clearance are being provided quickly and effectively, only goal is customer to be served on time, be satisfied and buy again some quantities from us. 

Our activities have been developped over the past year offering coffee not only on the spot in Thessaloniki but also CIF basis to other destinations, to the ports of Varna in Bulgaria and Durres in Albania mainly. Paris DST is also owning stocks in Koper through which we are selling coffee to customers located in East Serbia and Montenegro, with prospects to expand bussiness in other countries nearby such as Bosnia & Hercegovina and Croatia. Our strategy is always trying find ways to be expanded our market coverage. 

An important strengh we have at Paris DST is, due to a long time experience, that we know about what are the market needs so we have on a permanent basis the important variety of arabicas and robustas available in order to cover our clientele with good quality on the right time. We have never been short on any kind of coffee and that enabled us to sell even to our competitors in order they cover their obligations to their final customers, while they see the marks on the bags of coffee they got delivery, they understand that Paris DST is the best provider in the region!
