In the 1930's the group started its first cotton ginning operations in Brazil, which were later imitated in Mexico in the 1940's, and expanded to Paraguay in the 1950's.These ginning operations continue to operate with aproduction of close to 400 thousand bales every year. As ginners, we became suppliers of cottonseed, a natural byproduct of the seedcotton being ginned. The logical sequence was therefore to vertically integrateinto cottonseed processing and this was finally accomplished in the 1980's when our local company started up a joint venture with the Matarazzo group. Thereafter, in 1991 we built our own oilseed processing plant in Paraguay.
