ECOM around the world

What is the link between Vogue, Manuel Turizo, and ECOM?
On Wednesday July 26th, Colombian singer Manuel Turizo published the following picture on his Instagram account, does something look familiar?
As you can see, he is wearing an outfit made out of jute, the material that coffee transportation bags are made of, with the ECOM logo on his left (our right) trouser leg*. Not only does this give excellent exposure of ECOM as he has over 14 million instagram followers, but it also reinforces a circular economy model by reusing and refurbishing existing materials and products. In this case, making an old jute bag into an outfit.
The outfit was co-designed by Angel Chen, a Chinese fashion designer known for her colorful approach to fashion and fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, and New York City based clothing brand SKYCO, which creates unique pieces on a small scale.
Not only was this outfit worn by Manuel Turizo, but it was also featured in Vogue Runway, in October 2022.

*Please note that this is not the official ECOM logo. The new logo can be found in the brand center under “Logos”.

ITMA Milan 2023
In mid June, our Global Cotton Team and ECOM Risk Management division attended the 19th edition of the world’s largest textile and garment technology exhibition - ITMA 2023 in Milan.
ITMA 2023 hosted a spectacular display of manufacturing technologies and raw materials, enabling buyers to source newly launched machinery and products with the aim of improving the digital and sustainable transformations of their businesses. Our teams were able to discover cutting edge technologies and move a step towards an integrated textile and garment manufacturing value chain, while forging collaborative partnerships.
What’s more, shaping the future was the motto at ITMA and this applies perfectly to our group’s ethos of ‘growing innovators”. This is not a tagline for us but a pure reflection of our pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit at ECOM. It describes the way we nurture our work and our partners, to explore new ways to secure the future of our business. And it describes us, too — the innovative approach we take on the whole value chain.

Weeds can be a real problem for coffee farmers. Those with deep root systems compete with coffee trees for nutrients, reducing yields. However, weeds with shallow roots can help with water and nutrient retention and by increasing soil microbial diversity, which can help lead to higher yields for farmers.
